President Ballard passes away

M. Russell Ballard, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday 12 November surrounded by loved ones. He was 95 and had served as an apostle since 1985. For more on President Ballard’s life and ministry, visit newsroom.ChurchofJesusChrist.org


Teacher council meeting for elders quorum & Relief Society instructors

“In teacher council meetings, teachers counsel together about principles of Christlike teaching. They also counsel about how to improve gospel learning and teaching. They use Teaching in the Savior’s Way as a resource.” (General Handbook 17.4)


Thanksgiving linger longer

Ward service project: Building cleaning

Saturday 25 November ▪ 8.00am

All ward members are invited to help clean our church building in preparation for a number of Christmas and community events taking place throughout December. Breakfast will be served.


YSA Activities & Dinner

All young single adults (ages 18–30) are invited. The Lynbrook New York Stake YSAs are sponsoring the event and will be joined by the Queens YSA Ward and the Plainview YSA Branch.


Appointments with the bishop

Due to changes in the schedule for ward leadership meetings, times for interviews with the bishop have changed. Through the end of the year they will take place:

  • Sundays after 12.15pm
  • Wednesdays 7.00–8.00pm

Until a new executive secretary is called, appointments with the bishop can be set at jamaica1stward.org/appointments
