Adjustments to Sunday school classes & strengthening new members

This message was sent via email to all ward members, 24 July 2024.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Starting 4 August 2024, we are making these adjustments to Sunday school classes in the Jamaica 1st Ward:

  • The Sunday school class for new members and visitors will be discontinued. Those who attended this class, including new members, visitors, ward missionaries, and full-time missionaries, should attend the regular English-language adult Sunday school class instead. That class will continue to meet in the Relief Society room.
  • A new Gospel Principles class will be held on 1st and 3rd Sundays — the days Sunday school meets — at 1pm in the Relief Society room. While this class is designed to strengthen new members in their understanding of Jesus Christ’s restored gospel and church, everyone is welcome to attend. It will use the church’s Gospel Principles manual as its textbook alongside the scriptures.

The Sunday school classes for Haitian Creole speakers and youth will not change. These classes, and the adult English-language Sunday school class, will continue to follow the lessons and readings in Come, Follow Me.

Sincerely,

Dustin Tyler Joyce
Bishop, Jamaica 1st Ward
