Building cleaning: Checklist

These tasks should be completed during each weekly building cleaning session.

Vacuum

  • Classrooms
  • Halls
  • Floor mats at entryways

Trash

  • Empty trash cans
  • Replace liners as needed
  • Make sure there is a trash can in each room and in the hallway on each floor

Clean high-touch surfaces

  • Drinking fountains
  • Door handles
  • Light switches

Restrooms

  • Clean toilets
  • Clean sinks and mirrors
  • Mop floors
  • Replace toilet paper as needed
  • Replace paper towels as needed
  • Replace batteries in paper towel dispensers as needed

Chapel

  • Vacuum floors
  • Clean pews
  • Make sure sacrament trays are clean and in order
  • Empty trash and replace liners
  • Make sure hymnbooks (in English and Spanish) are evenly distributed

Closing tasks

  • Make sure all doors — chapel, gym, baptismal font, kitchen, Relief Society room, classrooms, custodial closet (including supply cabinets), and stairwells — are locked
  • Report cleaning supplies that need to be ordered
  • Report burned out or missing light bulbs and other building issues that need to be addressed
