Like all local congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Jamaica 1st Ward is led by lay leaders — local members who have been asked to serve, on a volunteer basis without pay, in leadership positions for a period of time. These lay leaders plan worship services, teach classes, organize activities and service projects, and lead local church members in serving each other and the wider community.
