About ward council meetings
Participants
The bishopric, ward clerk, ward executive secretary, organization presidents, and ward mission leader should attend. If an organization president cannot attend, a counselor in the organization presidency should attend instead.

Purpose
Help accomplish God’s work of salvation and exaltation in the ward. Ward council meetings are guided by the principles found in section 29.2.5 of the church’s General Handbook:
- Living the gospel of Jesus Christ
- Caring for those in need
- Inviting all to receive the gospel
- Uniting families for eternity
Extended ward council meetings
These take place on 5th Sundays after church in the Relief Society room. All organization presidency members — presidents plus counselors — are invited to attend for training, discussing the needs of the ward, and helping counselors feel comfortable participating in ward council meetings when needed in the organization president’s absence.
2024 speaking assignments
Each organization presidency is invited to speak in sacrament meeting on these Sundays. These talks are intended to help ward members:
- Know who is in each presidency
- Understand the purpose and work of each organization
